Opening its domes in 2004, Imbusch Observatory provides students of NUIG with a unique learning opportunity. The observatory is dedicated to Prof Frank Imbusch, a retired professor of experimental physics in NUIG.
As the youngest of Ireland’s public observatory Imbusch impact on our understanding of the universe cannot yet to be measured. However, with its location in the West of Ireland, one of the few places in Western Europe where dark skies and faint aurora can be still clearly seen, it will surely prove to be a place of inspiration for future Irish astronomers and astrophysicists.
