Dunsink Observatory is joining in the celebrations of Culture Night on Friday 18th September 2015. Visit Dublin’s historical observatory and the home of Ireland’s greatest mathematician and scientist, William Rowan Hamilton. See the magnificent Victorian engineering of the South telescope and dome, built by Grubb of Dublin. Attend a talk on the history of Dunsink Obsertatory, or some interesting area of astronomy and stargaze with astronomers.
Open Nights are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month during the winter months (October-March). Weather permitting, visitors can view celestial objects through the historic Grubb Telescope and two smaller telescopes. Visitors can also attend audio-visual presentations and lectures on a wide variety of topics in astronomy. There is also a question and answer session on all your astronomy related queries.
